Vanguard Resources, Inc., (VRI) – an industry leading Facilities Management Company,  is actively recruiting for a full time Facilities Maintenance Technician – Level 3 (experienced tech), preferably with HVAC/Refrigeration experience.

Ideally, someone who can be flexible to work across both 1st & 2nd shift (as needed), would be the best fit; days & evenings only, no overnights, unless in emergency situation(s). If shift change is required, employee is provided several weeks notice. Location: Valley Baptist Medical Center - 1040 W Jefferson St, Brownsville, TX 78520
 
Maintenance Tech Level 3  = experienced/skilled technicians - example -  proficient in HVAC/Refrigeration; typically possessing 3+ years experience. Tech 3 starting hourly rate: $18; wages are based on skills & experience! 

Shifts as assigned: either days (1st shift): 8am - 4:30 pm or evenings (2nd shift): 4pm-12:30am. If shift change is required, employee is provided several weeks notice.  Consistently scheduled 40 hours per week!
 

Schedule: Typically Monday – Friday, unless scheduled for weekend work (Sat & Sun). If scheduled for the weekend, days off will be Friday & Monday.  Required to work 1 weekend per month, but this is subject to change (typically every 3rd weekend).  

Important: all technicians are required to be scheduled as 'On Call' every 2 months (1 week outside of scheduled work hours).


Selected candidates MUST successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Only LOCAL candidates will be considered, as relocation assistance is not available.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing requested corrective, and emergency maintenance on a variety of systems, including electrical distribution, mechanical, HVAC, power generation, plumbing, and medical gas systems, as well as building structures. This role requires a proactive approach to inspecting, calibrating, adjusting, lubricating, and repairing or replacing components as necessary to ensure optimal functionality and safety.

Requirements

 Maintenance Techs level 3 are experienced skilled technicians - ie. HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing technician. 

  • Proven experience in maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, power generation, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system malfunctions.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred: some or completed college or technical school; facilities maintenance background in any industry and/or, military facilities background and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Hospital experience is preferred but not required. 

 

Other Skills Needed  

  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors and vendors  
  • Possess adequate computer/MS Office skills as well as preventive maintenance, building automation, procurement, work assignment systems
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Must be organized and provide support of project plans  
  • Must work in a clean and safe manner.  Maintain clean buildings, grounds and specified equipment.  Perform and document safety inspections on building systems.

Other minimum qualifications 

Valid ID or Driver License, with fairly clean driving record (no more than 3 moving violations within rolling past 3 years).


Key Job Duties

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform scheduled, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical distribution, mechanical, HVAC, power generation, plumbing, and medical gas systems, as well as building structures.
  • Inspection and Calibration: Regularly inspect, calibrate, adjust, and lubricate mechanical system & fire protection components to maintain optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.
  • Diagnostics: Diagnose system malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipment, identifying the root cause of issues and determining the best course of action for repairs.
  • Component Replacement: Repair or replace defective parts as necessary to restore system functionality and ensure safety.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including details of inspections, calibrations, adjustments, and component replacements.
  • Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, prioritizing tasks to address critical issues and minimize downtime.
  • Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities leadership team members

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary Description
Starting hourly wage for Tech 3: $18 (DOE)
