Summary/Objective: Promotes the company mission statement by supporting the company’s equipment and maintenance operations. Support the Division mission by following guidance and direction from the Equipment & Fleet Maintenance Coordinator.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform low-level maintenance such as greasing, track adjustment and light repairs on Harper-owned equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with construction equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of equipment and fleet at the yard, at 3rd party locations and project sites. 
  • Ensure all equipment is current on annual inspections and is calibrated based on the manufacturer’s recommendations or standards.
  • Conduct DOT inspections on fleet vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment based on schedules established by software packages Tracker 7 and Procore.
  • Support the inbound and outbound inspection process.
  • Ensure the ready status of idle equipment.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other divisions of the company.

  • Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents (manufacturer’s maintenance requirements).
  • Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. 
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Organize and manage time, duties, and activities efficiently.
  • Ability to enter data and understand various computer programs.
  • Ability to analyze data for evaluation of equipment efficiencies.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

 

Work Environment:

This position is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned. Exposure to weather, heat, etc. is expected.

 

Physical Demands: 

Weather and climate conditions will vary throughout the progress of all Harper projects and the Equipment Technician must be able to inspect the utilization of equipment in all ongoing construction projects. This role requires walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Lifting requirements vary from minimal loads to heavy; but help is always available with heavier loads. Inspection of equipment for condition frequently requires climbing on and around the actual units.


Travel Required: Travel to/from multiple jobsites, projects, and offices. Minimal overnight or weekend travel.

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn the technical applications of Tracker and Procore.
  • Minimum of 2 years performing construction equipment maintenance/service.
